Study in Australia ( Important Update !! )

  1. “Updates to English Language Proficiency Requirements”

Effective December 11, 2023, the Australian Government announced revisions to the English language proficiency criteria for applicants seeking Student and Temporary Graduate visas. These changes, implemented in early 2024, elevate the required scores for both visa categories:

  • For Student visas, the minimum score will rise from 5.5 to 6.0.
  • Temporary Graduate visa applicants will now be required to achieve a minimum score of 6.5, up from the previous requirement of 6.0.

These adjustments reflect the government’s commitment to maintaining high standards of language proficiency among visa holders, ensuring better integration and success in academic and professional endeavors within Australia.

  1. “Introducing the Genuine Student Requirement for Australian Student Visa Applications”

As of March 23, 2024, Australia’s Genuine Temporary Entrant requirement has been replaced by the Genuine Student requirement (GS) in the student visa application process. This new requirement streamlines the application process, shifting from lengthy essay-based explanations to targeted questions designed to elicit concise, evidence-based responses.

What is the Genuine Student Requirement?

The Genuine Student requirement (GS) constitutes the latest addition to the Australian student visa application. It features four standard questions, with an additional query for applicants with prior study visa experience or those already residing in Australia on a student visa.

GS questions revolve around:

  • Connections to family and community
  • Professional and academic background
  • How the chosen course aligns with your aspirations
  • Understanding of the course requirements
  • Familiarity with Australian living and studying conditions
  • Reasons for selecting the specific course and institution.

Starting from May 5, 2024, TOEFL iBT tests taken on or after this date are now accepted, opening up more opportunities for individuals seeking to study, work, or migrate to Australia.
