Changes have been made regarding eligibility criteria. Effective immediately, only spouses of international students enrolled in master’s, doctoral, and professional programs will be eligible for open work permits.

Effective September 1, 2024, international students commencing study programs in private colleges delivering licensed curriculum will not be eligible for Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWPs).
- “Update on Off-Campus Work Hours for International Students in Canada”
Effective April 30, 2024, the restriction on off-campus work hours for international students in Canada has been lifted. The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship has declared that starting from September 2024, the limit on off-campus work hours will be raised to 24 hours per week. Until this policy change takes effect, students are permitted to work for a maximum of 20 hours per week while classes are in session.
